Anna Tyrrell, MEd., LSW, LPC is a licensed professional counselor and licensed social worker. She has been licensed as a social worker since 1986 and as a counselor since 1996 (although practicing since 1990). She has been in private practice since 1997.
Anna is also mediator specializing in family, divorce and custody issues. She has provided mediation services for the Lake County Court of Domestic Relations and the Mediation Program of the Cuyahoga County Department of Justice Affairs. Anna developed a mediation program for juvenile domestic violence offenders, and is recognized by the Supreme Court of Ohio as an advanced trainer for domestic abuse considerations in mediation.
A noted speaker, Anna has provided countless presentations addressing issues relating to mediation, domestic violence, interpersonal violence and harassment, child development, parenting, mediation, and issues children face today. Nationally, Anna has presented workshops on date abuse prevention programs, intervention with young children who witness violence, and other topics for the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
In recent years, she has presented nationally on the relationship between neuroscience and mediation for the Association for Conflict Resolution, the Michigan State Bar Association’s Division of Alternative Dispute Resolution and the New York State Mediation Association.
Anna Tyrrell, MEd., LSW, LPC is an experienced trainer. She has provided training to professionals working with victims of domestic violence, including counselors, social workers, attorneys, doctors, nurses and mediators. She has also been a consultant to social service agencies and medical facilities on the development of policies, procedures, and staff training addressing the service needs of victims of abuse.

Throughout her career Anna has volunteered as a counselor, trainer, consultant and board member for a variety of agencies and organizations, including the Girl Scouts of Lake Erie Council and of USA, Family Planning Association of NorthEast Ohio, and the Greater Cleveland Elder Abuse Roundtable. She has served as President of the North Central Ohio Counselor’s Association and has been active in promoting professional counselors.
In 2002, she was recognized for her accomplishments by being named “Counselor of the Year” by the Ohio Counseling Association. Other awards include the “Community Rescuer Award” by Project Love, an organization promoting tolerance in youth, and the “Thanks Badge” and “Community Appreciation Award”, by the Girl Scouts of Lake Erie. Recently, in 2010, Anna was recognized as a Woman of Achievement by the Women’s Center of Lakeland Community College.
